Remus Launches Mercedes Benz CLA 250 Remus system

Mercedes Benz has something of a reputation for expertly exploiting niches when it comes to their range of models, and there’s little doubt that they well and truly excelled themselves with the CLA 250. The combination of affordability, sleek, aerodynamic styling and performance has proved a winning one so far, and the model continues to sell at a frankly astonishing rate. All of this goes some way toward explaining why Remus has taken the time to develop an exhaust system specifically for the 2.0 CLA 250, one of the most sought after models in the CLA range.

Augmenting their already impressive array of exhaust systems for Stuttgart’s finest, Remus’s latest offering promises to be one of their most popular products to date, managing to balance performance with a suitably aggressive note. The core of the stainless steel system consists of a downpipe, sports centre section and a tail pipe set, the latter boasting four 76mm angled, straight cut and chrome finished pipes. It should be noted that fitment of both the downpipe and tail pipes requires that the full system be in place beforehand, and also that former has yet to receive full EEC accreditation.

As is the case with all Remus systems, the quality of the workmanship involved is second to none, well above that of offerings from other manufactures and even rivaling OEM levels of fit and finish. Extensive testing of the system on Remus’s own development cars has revealed a noticeable increase in performance across the rev range, plus the aforementioned exhaust note that manages to be aggressive without ever becoming overpowering or obtrusive.

Remus exhaust systems offer performance benefits thanks to their careful design and gas flow properties, but owners of Mercedes Benz CLA’s can take advantage of one of the company’s other significant developments, the Powerizer. Designed for those seeking more performance from their car without having to go to the trouble of extensively modifying their engine internals, the Remus Powerizer can boost peak power by as much as 25% and torque by a hefty 20%. These amazing improvements are achieved thanks to the electronic system’s ability to toggle the engine management parameters in real time, optimising the nature of the map multiple times per second in order to ensure peak gas flow at any given time.

There’s an added benefit to the Powerizer, one that perhaps isn’t as obvious as the performance advances, and that’s improved fuel economy. The added torque created lower down the rev range means the engine doesn’t have to work as hard to propel the car along the road, resulting in improvements in MPG. Remus’s trained technicians optimize the Powerizer to suit the needs of the customer, though the instructions included with each kit allow for it to be adjusted at a later date should the need arise, and all by simply pushing the clearly defined buttons on the control unit.

Finally there’s the Remus Responder, another innovation that’s been designed to improve the driving experience and complement the firm’s exhaust systems. As the name implies, the Remus Responder improves throttle response by adjusting the accelerator pedal output signal, resulting in noticeably reduced response and reduced lag when when applied cars with an automatic transmissions. The use of plug and play technology means that, when installed between the OEM pedal sensor and OEM connector, the Remus Responder is ready to use in seconds. The Responder operates using sophisticated adjustable programming profiles, technology that can lead to improved fuel consumption and more efficient engine running, while the four user-selectable and customisable performance settings give drivers greater freedom to tune the system to their specific needs.
