G-POWER G63 AMG – 645 HP AND 900 NM
With decades of experience optimising the performance of the most powerful BMW und AMG models, G-POWER now gives the huge G63 AMG a significant power boost.
Launched in 1979, the Mercedes G started life as a workhorse, slowly evolving into the G-Class luxury 4×4, and finally gaining a high-performance AMG version. The fact that its basic appearance has not changed in 35 years is a testament to its popularity and the iconic status it enjoys with enthusiastic owners.
In AMG guise the G-Class is given a clear performance mandate, its 5.5-litre twin-turbo V8 making an impressive 571 hp (420 kW) with 760 Nm of torque out of the box. The G-POWER Bi-Tronik 5 V1 power module releases a further 74 hp and 140 Nm of torque, taking output up to 645 hp (474 kW) and 900 Nm.
The power module connected upstream of the engine control unit modifies the data from the vehicle’s sensors and transmits it to the stock ECU whose output control parameters are based on this incoming information.
G-POWER ensures engine reliability and longevity by ensuring that the factory protection protocols remain unaffected. Thus, the motor defaults to OE settings if the coolant or oil temperatures reach proscribed limits. At the same time, the power module does not affect the Mercedes-Benz Star Diagnostic Xentry system used by official dealers.
The stopwatch acknowledges the extra power and torque with the sprint to 100 km/h now taking just 5.3 seconds, a time that would have done a supercar proud in the 1980s. Top speed: more than 250 km/h!
In addition to the increase in performance G-POWER offers their ultra-light HURRICANE RR forged alloy wheels in 11.0×23-inch, shod with 305/35ZR23 tyres. Finished in black this five double-spoke wheel made from aircraft grade aluminium perfectly underlines the sporting nature of the G63 AMG.
