BRABUS has been building the world’s fastest street-legal sedans for many years. This tradition started in 1996 with the BRABUS E V12 that had a top speed of 330 km/h (205 mph), and continued in 2003 with the E V12 Biturbo that reached 350.2 km/h (217.6 mph). In 2006 the BRABUS ROCKET, built in small-series production based on the first edition of the Mercedes CLS, improved the world record to 365.7 km/h (222.7 mph). The BRABUS E V12 &#8220;one of ten&#8221; based on the latest E-Class, pushed the record to 370 km/h (230 mph).</p>
<p>The world debut of the new BRABUS ROCKET 800 from BRABUS at the 2011 IAA in Frankfurt/Main now continues this unique success story. The high-performance automobile based on the new Mercedes CLS generation is powered by a BRABUS 800 V12 Biturbo engine that produces 800 hp (788 bhp) / 588 kW of power and a peak torque of 1,420 Nm (1,047 lb-ft), which in the car is limited to 1,100 Nm (811 lb-ft). The exclusively appointed BRABUS ROCKET 800, built to order starting at EUR 429,000, reaches a top speed in excess of 370 km/h (230 mph) and accelerates from 0 to 300 km/h (186 mph) in just 23.8 seconds.</p>
<p>Like its predecessors the new BRABUS ROCKET 800 is also powered by a 12-cylinder high-capacity engine that was converted to 800 V12 Biturbo specifications in the BRABUS engine-building shop. Using state-of-the-art machining processes and with utmost precision in every last detail the engine, based on the latest Mercedes 600 engines, underwent a displacement increase from 5.5 to 6.3 liters (336 to 384 cu. in.). </p>
<p>The displacement increase comprises a special crankshaft with longer stroke, larger, forged pistons and an increase in cylinder bore across the board. Intake and outlet ports of both cylinder heads are optimized for mixture flow, and fitted with sports camshafts.</p>
<p>The intake side was also completely reworked: the hood of the ROCKET 800 features a carbon-fiber ram-air intake system that gets its combustion air through slits in the BRABUS front element.</p>
<p>Another custom development is the BRABUS 800 Biturbo system. It comprises two special exhaust manifolds with integrated high-performance turbochargers, and four water-to-air intercoolers. The stainless-steel high-performance exhaust system with free-flow metal catalysts and butterfly valve was also created specifically for the CLS floorpan.</p>
<p>Just as elaborate was the implantation of the V12 engine and all its peripherals into the modified engine bay of the sedan. Numerous components such as the engine mounts had to be custom designed. </p>
<p>Another engineering masterpiece of the BRABUS engineers is the newly configured on-board electronics system. It includes newly programmed engine mapping that contributes equally to achieving maximum power yield and to meeting the current EURO V emission standards. Just as important is the adaption to the driving dynamics systems such as traction control, ESP, ABS and Brake Assist.</p>
<p>The BRABUS 800 V12 Biturbo engine is lubricated with high-tech motor oil from technology partner ARAL and produces 800 hp (788 bhp) / 588 kW at 5,500 rpm. The even more enormous peak torque of 1,420 Nm (1,047 lb-ft), available from a low 2,100 rpm, is limited electronically in the car to 1,100 Nm (811 lb-ft).</p>
<p>For the first time the BRABUS engine specialists combine this high-end engine with a seven-speed quick-shift gearbox. Gears are shifted by means of shift paddles on the steering wheel or automatically. The BRABUS limited-slip differential, available with various final drive ratios, optimizes traction of the rear-wheel-drive car.</p>
<p>The BRABUS 800 V12 Biturbo engine and the entire powertrain are operated with high-performance lubricants from technology partner ARAL.</p>
<p>With the longest available final-drive ratio the BRABUS ROCKET 800 reaches a top speed of more than 370 km/h (230 mph), making it the world’s fastest street-legal sedan. But this exclusive high-performance automobile is tops in other areas as well: 0 – 100 km/h (62 mph) in 3.7 seconds, 0 – 200 km/h (124 mph) in 9.8 seconds and 0 – 300 km/h (186 mph) in 23.8 seconds are figures that are as unique as this BRABUS automobile itself.</p>

<p>To keep the enormous performance of the world’s fastest sedan safely in check at all times, the vehicle’s aerodynamic properties, suspension and brakes were modified extensively.</p>
<p>Like all other BRABUS body components for the new CLS, the ROCKET 800 front element that includes the front spoiler and the radiator frame was developed in the wind tunnel. The aerodynamic-enhancement components for the ROCKET 800 are manufactured form ultra-light yet high-strength carbon fiber.</p>
<p>The front spoiler features large air inlets and side air vents to ensure optimal air supply of radiators, oil coolers and front brakes. Just as important is that it also minimizes lift on the front axle while improving drag. The air inlets above the radiator cutout provide the ram-air intake system of the 12-cylinder engine with ample combustion air.</p>
<p>The air vents in the front fenders are part of the sporty-elegant yet understated appearance of the four-door car. BRABUS side skirts with integrated LED entrance lights calm the airstream along the vehicle’s sides. They also form a transition to the carbon-fiber fender flares on the rear axle, which add 40 millimeters (1.6 in.) to the width of the ROCKET 800 compared to a stock CLS.</p>
<p>To achieve an optimal aerodynamic balance, the BRABUS design studio has developed a rear wing and a rear diffuser for the CLS body. Side air vents in the rear bumper round out the sporty appearance. </p>
<p>A high-performance vehicle such as the BRABUS ROCKET 800 naturally also has a precisely calibrated high-end suspension. A height-adjustable coilover suspension was developed in cooperation with technology partner BILSTEIN. In addition to an adjustable ride height the gas-pressure shocks on front and rear axle feature ten selectable settings each for bound and rebound. Sport sway bars give the car even more agile turn-in and reduce body roll during fast cornering.</p>

<p>Maximum stopping power and absolutely fade-resistant brakes are further active safety features of the ROCKET 800. The BRABUS high-performance brake system was adapted to work with the Brake Assist system of the CLS. On the front axle it consists of vented and grooved steel brake discs that measure 380 x 37 millimeters (15.0 x 1.45 in.) and 12-piston aluminum fixed calipers. Vented and grooved steel discs measuring 360 x 28 millimeters (14.2 x 1.1 in.) and six-piston fixed aluminum calipers on the rear axle complete the extremely efficient and durable brake system.</p>
<p>The immense top speed of the BRABUS ROCKET 800, for street operations limited electronically to 350 km/h (217 mph), necessitates special high-performance tires. Technology partners Continental, Pirelli and YOKOHAMA mount the 19-inch one-piece BRABUS Monoblock F wheels with high-speed-capable tires. The front axle features size 9.5Jx19 wheels and tires in size 255/35 ZR 19. Tires in size 285/30 ZR 19 mounted on identically sized wheels on the rear axle provide excellent traction.</p>
<p>The ergonomically shaped BRABUS sport steering wheel with aluminum shift paddles always guarantees perfect, close contact with the suspension. Aluminum pedals, footrest and shifter add further sporty highlights. The BRABUS speedometer with 400-km/h (250-mph) dial is also part of the custom-tailored interior as are stainless-steel scuff plates with backlit ROCKET 800 logo.</p>

<p>They welcome driver and passengers to the exclusive atmosphere of a BRABUS fine leather interior. The company upholstery shop has created an all-leather gray interior crafted with utmost precision from the finest supple leather. The leather is combined with high-gloss-polished black piano wood and a headliner made from black Alcantara. The headrests are embroidered with a BRABUS and a ROCKET 800 logo.</p>

German tuner Wheelsandmore presented one of the first tuned Mercedes CLS63 AMG. Main focus of this world exclusive presentation is on the new three-piece forged wheelmodel 6Sporz², a consistent development of the predecessor wheelmodel 6Sporz.<br />
The lightweight wheels were combined sizing 9,5 x20 at the front axle with Dunlop Sportmaxx tyres 255/30/20 and on the drive axle sizing 11.0 x 20 inches with wide tires sizing 305/25/20 inches, either delivered by Dunlop.</p>
<p>Known for subtle but consistent performance-enhancing upgrades, the engineers from Baesweiler weren´t satisfied about serial performance of the new twin-turbo engine from Afalterbach. Basically offered with 525hp the noble tuner increases the output by upgrading the control electronics together with a valve controlled exhaust system with sport catalysts on a total of 580hp and forces additional 80l b-ft of torque. The speed limitation is enabled expedient in this manner.</p>

<p>The new CLS AMG Coupe uses a combination of conventional suspension at the front-and air suspension at the rear axle.<br />
Together with German suspension specialists KW automotive, the tuning company has developed a perfect solution to lower the vehicle&#8217;s center of gravity, consisting a height adjustable spring kit for the frontaxle combined with a continuously adjustable level control electronics for axis No.2.</p>

Stylish use of shape is the trademark of the new generation of Mercedes-Benz CLS models (type C 218). This has provided the automobile manufacturer Carlsson with the ideal platform from which to perfect the new model with even more style and athleticism. Carlsson premieres its refinement at the Geneva Motor Show to the world public.</p>
<p>Carlsson chief designer Rolf Schlepp incorporates coupé-style contours and lends the vehicle’s exterior a touch of sophistication with the comprehensive aerodynamics package. The new front spoiler and the RS front spoiler lip (available in real carbon) ensure an athletic look for the luxurious saloon car, a look which is underscored further by the stainless steel grille inserts.</p>
<p>The rear spoiler, the rear apron and its built-in diffuser (which functions as a tailplane) ensure extra downforce and more stable road holding at high speed. Under the long bonnet an engine optimized by Carlsson performs up to 600 hp (441 kW) in the flagship model based on the CLS 63 AMG. Carlsson also offers technically sophisticated performance kits with the general Carlsson guarantee for smaller engines.</p>

<p>The CLS 350 CDI for example achieves a power output that is a full 20 percent greater than the standard engine thanks to the Carlsson C-Tronic® DIESEL POWER additional control unit. Instead of 265 hp (195kW), the self-igniting engine now manages 320 hp (235 kW) while maximum torque has increased from 650 to 780 Newton metres. This allows the vehicle to go from 0 to 100 kph in 5.9 seconds instead of the standard 6.2 seconds. The performance-boosting kit continues to meet the EURO5 exhaust emission standards, of course.</p>
<p>In addition, the stainless steel rear silencer and the two oval tailpipes so typical of Carlsson make a great sound. The stainless steel tailpipes can also be ordered separately.</p>
<p>The vehicle’s alloy wheels in 1/10 design and up to 20 inch also emphasise the sporty yet stylish contours of its new aerodynamics package which has been developed in the wind tunnel. With the combination of five simple and five double spokes, the automobile manufacturer from Merzig in Germany is setting a design trend. The five top spokes are designed in such a way that they terminate flushly on the edge of the wheel rim while the five double spokes begin deeper inside the wheel receptacle and are arranged outside on the upper edge of the wheel rim. The fact that there is no wheel well and that the spokes are drawn out over the edge give the 1/10 wheels a particularly sporty character. The forged wheel generates a weight advantage of 40 percent compared the ordinary serial wheels because of its production process while achieving more strength and distinctly improved rolling quality at the same time.</p>
<p>Carlsson’s patented C-Tronic SUSPENSION is responsible for delivering excellent road holding for vehicles with the standard AIRMATIC suspension. This intelligent suspension lowering system drops the vehicle by up to 30 millimetres and continuously monitors the situation of the road. Depending on the road conditions, the controlling device adapts the residual spring travel every 150 milliseconds, thereby ensuring optimum comfort and excellent driving dynamics with an appealing look. The C-Tronic SUSPENSION switches to serial conditions when the speed drops under 20 kph, as a lowering of the vehicle at that speed is part of the serial adjustment.</p>

<p>The vehicle’s refinement reaches its peak in the interior. The automobile manufacturer cultivates traditional craftsmanship by using finest materials such as leather, exclusive alcantara, carbon, best root wood, and several other exclusive nature materials. The selections of the materials and the excellent workmanship attest the uncompromising quality requirements of Carlsson’s own upholstery. The seats and the doors panels have been covered in Carlsson Nappa with contrasting Carlsson stitching. This leather is exclusively produced for Carlsson as barrel pigmented aniline leather which is available in all conceivable colour variations. For Carlsson Nappa only middle European raw materials and German production is used. Carlsson also takes responsibility for the environment: the water needed in production leaves the tannery in drinking-water quality.</p>
<p>The same high quality is reflected by all wooden inlays which have been refined with black piano varnish. The Carlsson Signature Line in the contrasting colour underscores the demands for design and aesthetics. The alcantara sports steering wheel, pedals and foot rest made of brushed aluminium, velours foot mats featuring the Carlsson logo and the matching boot mat support the stylish appearance of the CLS’ interior.</p>
<p>With its comprehensive finishing package for the CLS model, Carlsson has once more proven its refined sense of taste when it comes to Mercedes design. Thanks to its efforts, the already stylish standard CLS has really turned into a unique individualist. The CLS by Carlsson premieres at the Geneva Motor Show, sales start in April 2011.</p>
<p>All components of the refinement include the general Carlsson three-year warrenty up to 100.000 kilometres and a TÜV certificate so that the components can be easily included with the rest of the vehicle’s documentation. </p>

BRABUS has revealed its tuning program for the second generation Mercedes CLS-Class. For the 2012 CLS, the German tuning house prepared a variety of aero-enhancements, interior goods and performance upgrades.</p>
<p>Making its world debut in Geneva next week, the four-door coupe is outfitted modestly for a sporty-elegant flavor. The wind tunnel tested kit features a front spoiler mounted to the OE front bumper, restyled air vent inserts with fitted LED daytime running, sport fenders with side gills, side skirts, rear spoiler and a custom fitted lower rear bumper apron to accommodate the four tailpipes of the BRABUS sport exhaust system. The rear appearance is rounded out with a centrally mounted reflector.</p>
<p>There are plenty of choices for the alloy wheels as Brabus offers six different designs in sizes ranging from 8.5Jx17&#8243; to 10.5Jx20&#8243;. The largest tires supplied by the company&#8217;s partners Pirelli and YOKOHAMA for these wheels come in size 255/30 ZR 20 in front and in size 305/25 ZR 20 for the rear axle.</p>
<p>Suspension tuning is available is several levels from a simple ride-height lowering by some 30 millimeters via sport springs or a complete suspension upgrade with adjustable dampers all around. CLS models equipped with the semi-active AIRMATIC air suspension system can be lowered by some 35 millimeters (1.4 in.) with the BRABUS suspension module.</p>

<p>Performance tuning also remains somewhat sedated in these early stages. The CLS 250 CDI BlueEFFICIENCY model equipped with BRABUS ECO PowerXtra D4 performance kit delivers an additional 31 PS (31 bhp / 22.8 kW) and peak torque of 560 Nm (413 lb-ft). </p>
<p>For the CLS 350 CDI BlueEFFICIENCY BRABUS offers the ECO PowerXtra D6S plug-and-play auxiliary control unit which can be installed in less than 45 minutes. In &#8216;Eco&#8217; mode only peak torque is increased from 620 Nm to 690 Nm (457 to 509 lb-ft) between 1,600 and 2,400 rpm. Maximum power output remains unchanged. In &#8216;Sport&#8217; mode both peak torque and power output are increased. Maximum power output jumps from 265 PS (261 bhp / 195 kW) to 313 PS (309 bhp / 230 kW) at a low 3,600 rpm. Using this setting, the tuned turbodiesel model sprints from 0 – 100 km/h in just 5.9 seconds. Top speed is limited electronically to 250 km/h (155 mph).</p>

The new Mercedes CLS-class will be available for delivery to customers in 2011. Sport-Service Lorinser, the recognised specialist for Mercedes refining, is already working on options to individualise technology and design, far in advance of the market introduction. A well thought out concept is necessary to provide the four-door sports-limousine with a stylish and cutting edge profile. This requires a lot of experience, because upgrading a vehicle that is not yet for sale can be quite difficult – but not for the well trained Lorinser personnel.</p>
<p>„We will distribute our tuning-version globally in 45 countries, therefore a sophisticated body-design is required.“, explained Marcus Lorinser, owner of Sportservice Lorinser. The Lorinser-interpretation emphasises the sportive features with strikingly impressive innovation. Large air intake grills characterise the distinctive appearance of the front-end and enable an optimal fresh air supply to engine and brakes. The extended fenders not only enhance the masculine appearance of the car, but also provide space for the 21-inch light-alloy wheels.</p>
<p>But not only the styling will be optimised: Chassis, engine and interior is also upgraded at Lorinser-manufacturing. Featuring these upgrades, the Lorinser-CLS will advance to „eye candy“ on the luxury boulevards of all major cities.</p>

<p>The bodykit features some of the most curvacious lines available, and the front bumper looks meaner than the devil on a bad day. It is available with daylight driving lights and fog lights or with a mesh inset. The rear bumper is available with the Sports Diffusor look or with a sleek elegant finish. The side skirts are available with or without LED lighting (5 lights per side) which is linked up to the internal lighting. The 3 piece rear spoiler finishes it all off nicely and is just another indication of MEC Designs attention to detail.</p>
<p>The alloy wheels are also designed by MEC Design and are a 3 piece design. The forged centre piece is high gloss compressed and has stainless steel outer rims. The front features 11&#215;20 with 4,5 inch outer rims and 285/25 ZR 20 Hankook tires, whilst the rear has 13&#215;20 with 5 inch outer rims again with 325/25 ZR 20 Hankook tires. The front axel has 10mm spacers and the rear axel 19mm spacers. All the bodywork has been done without the need for painting or lackering</p>

<p>This model features the MEC Design Electronic Lowering Module, which is available for models CLS270 &#8211; CLS63AMG with Airmatic Suspension. It is available with standard measure that allows for lowering of 20-40mm or with special measure, which takes it down between 40-70mm. For the models CLS270-CLS350 and those without Airmatic suspension there is the MEC Design height adjustable coilover kit, ideal for spirited street driving or light track use. The 28-way adjustable kits allow for dampening tuning in the front and dampening and rebound tuning in the rear with just a simple click of the knob. This kit offers adjustable depths for front axel 30-70mm and rear axel of 30-65mm.</p>
<p>The MEC Design sports exhaust system is manufactured from mandrel-bent stainless steel tubing, stainless steel resonator and muffler. The sounds that it produces are pretty amazing; the featured version is called &#8220;Earthquake&#8221; although it is available in a quieter version. The delicately placed embossed MEC Design logo on the quad oval chrome tips are the perfect finishing touch.</p>
<p>The interior features the MEC Design sports multi-functional airbag steering wheel. The distinctive ergonomically designed handles and its precious wood inlay and leather make it a pleasure to grip. The footmats are made from precious velours and feature Nubuck leather embroidery again with the MEC Design logo.</p>
<p>Cem Altun, Company CEO and the driving force behind MEC Design&#8217;s success says &#8220;I was over the moon when we released the bodykit for the S-Class in October last year, I didn&#8217;t think anything could beat it, but this looks absolutely amazing. <p>The L 55 RS can boast about 460 hp (338 kW) and 585 Nm of torque versus the stock 388 hp (285 kW) and 530 Nm, all this power gives the 4-door coupe a 300 km/h top speed.</p>
<p>Of course Lorinser doesn&#8217;t just leave at a power boost, the German tuning house has also developed some new aerodynamic accessories like a new front spoiler, side skirts and rear boot spoiler. The Lorinser&#8217;s profile is supported by 20 inch Lorinser RS 6 light weight alloy wheels. The interior comes equipped with carbon detailing for the arm rests and center console.</p>
