Despite its stock supercar performance, American tuner Vorsteiner has now released an even more performance-focused version of it.

Vorsteiner have crafted functional front and rear spoilers which are constructed of lightweight dry carbon fiber. Vorsteiner states the spoilers improve down force & aerodynamics during high speed tests at the track over 321km/h (200mph).

The list of modifications include a new lightweight dry carbon-fiber front spoiler and a more aggressive replacement deck lid spoiler. The combination of these elements has been found to improve down force and aerodynamics during high speed tests, with the car easily reaching top speeds of over 320km/h. All the parts are a direct bolt onto the factory body panels without any modifications required.

The CLK 63 AMG Black sport front DTM add-on spoiler is designed to bolt onto the factory AMG bumpers to further improve aerodynamics & stability of the vehicle. This light weight front spoiler has been track tested at speeds over 321km/h (200mph) and is proven to increase downforce & driving accuracy during high speed laps.

The CLK 63 AMG Black sport rear DTM add-on spoiler is designed to bolt onto the factory rear boot lid to replace the smaller original oem version. This spoiler is designed with a more aggressive profile to further improve aerodynamics & stability of the vehicle. The carbon fiber rear spoiler has been track tested at speeds over 321km/h (180mph) and is proven to increase downforce & driving accuracy during high speed laps. Vorsteiner’s Carbon Fiber Honeycomb Matrix (CFHM) structure gives our parts superior stiffness, strength & durability compared to traditional hand laid carbon fiber and fiberglass materials.

Cars from the AMG division of Mercedes-Benz have always been considered as something rather special. With the introduction of the Black Series models, this is more evident than ever before, and the CLK 63 AMG Black Series is considered by many as the ultimate driving machine. At Kleemann however, they saw it as just another interesting challenge, and the result is one of the most fascinating and uncompromising Kleemann cars ever.

How do we optimize this car? This question has only one correct answer: With sophistication! The already fabulous CLK 63 AMG Black Series doesn’t leave much room for improvements, but the Kleemann engineers didn’t hesitate for a second, when they received this challenge. Somehow, AMG had just done a lot of the work that had previously been performed by Kleemann on the “normal” CLK’s, so the task wasn’t really that difficult.

The first thing you notice on a CLK Black is the racy styling – particularly the wide fenders, which house the 19” AMG wheels. Now the car rolls on 20” 3 piece Kleemann TS-6 wheels, 10” wide with 255/30 tires on the front axle and 11” wide with 305/25 tires on the rear axle. These wheels visually complete the exterior of the car and work in perfect harmony with the race inspired Black Series chassis for a much improved driving experience.

The next step of the Kleemann optimisation was a power increase for the 507 HP 6.2 litre AMG engine. This car is the first model fitted with the new Kleemann 63-K2 kit, consisting of a set of high flow exhaust manifolds with matching downpipes and 200-cell steel sport catalysts and a remapped engine ECU. This kit increases peak power to 545 HP and 675 Nm of torque and power is raised throughout the rev scale, retaining the everyday driveability of the stock engine and eliminating the need to modify the gearbox. (The Kleemann 63-K2 kit can be fitted to all AMG 63 cars)

As the final touch to the magnificent car, the brand new Kleemann logo kit has replaced the MB letters on the boot lid. The elegant and minimalistic letters add a touch of exclusivity and mystique to the car, and set it apart from other “standard” Black Series cars. (The new logo kit is available from January 2009)

The Kleemann philosophy Comfort Power represents the point that tuning isn’t just about raw power and radical styling. The main goal must always be power and driveability in perfect harmony and the Kleemann CLK 63K AMG Black Series is a perfect example of just that.

About Kleemann A/S

Innovation, passion, excellence and individuality are the core values that Kleemann utilises in the design and manufacturing of our products. A Kleemann upgrade will lift the performance of your Mercedes-Benz to another level, and our design will refine the appearance of the car significantly while still honouring the lines and shapes of the original vehicle. Our goal is to enhance the best qualities of the vehicle and the Mercedes-Benz brand, and even a full Kleemann conversion performed on a top-of-the-line model will never compromise style, safety or reliability.

The combination of tremendous performance and everyday driveability that provides both joy in ownership and intense driving pleasure to our clients all over the world is what characterises a Kleemann car. It is a phenomenon that we call Comfort Power. Kleemann A/S was founded in 1994 by Claus Ankjaer and the company currently employs 15 people in the Danish headquarter and US regional headquarter. Kleemann products are currently sold in more than 40 countries worldwide.

The Mercedes CLK63 AMG Black series is based on the official F1 safety car and incorporates the pinnacle of Mercedes’ performance technology therefore any tuner wishing to enhance this package has a challenge on their hands, a challenge Renntech was more than willing to take with the release of their latest tuning program.

The monstrous 6.2-liter AMG engine already pumped out 507hp and 630Nm of torque but the Mercedes tuner has managed to pump this up up to 550hp with an additional 60-80Nm of torque. Achieved with a bit of ECU tuning and the addition of long-tube headers and a motorsports style exhaust sharpening throttle response.

“Real-world performance is all about torque, not so much about a peak horsepower number at very high rpm,” explains Hartmut Feyhl, company founder. “It can be very easy to build high rpm horsepower, but to get instant throttle response and mid-range acceleration it is more difficult, and this is where customers really want to feel that improvement.”

For additional drivability Renntech has intsalled its own sport suspension system lowering the car by an extra ¾ inch and added carbon fibre stut braces to both the front and the rear along with fully-adjustable camber bushings at all four corners which enhance mechanical grip in fast corner. The Aerodynamics are enhanced with the addition of a front splitter and rear diffuser along with the striking carbon fibre rear wing.

The prevailing notion that sports cars are just a pleasure for two was now contradicted by Kicherer. The renowned Mercedes embellishing specialists from Stockach have enriched the CLK 63 AMG, which is actually a two-seater, with a sporty back seat. When you take the north loop in less than 8 minutes with this bolide, all those seats will definitely provide more fun – and adrenaline – than any rollercoaster.

And what is more, those additional seats guarantee a Black Edition with a significantly improved road capability. But, Kicherer will even delight design and sports enthusiasts.

The radiator grill, already quite impressive on the standard version, is replaced by an even sportier variant made of carbon and featuring carbon fibre struts. The beautiful forged three-part wheel, Kicherer RS-1, also fulfils a double function as it is a visual and – thanks to weight reduction – also a sportive gain.

The chassis – specially developed for Kicherer by DTM specialist H&R – also improves the racer’s cornering dynamics by several degrees. Since the Kicherer engineers have taken care of the engine, too, they have further underlined their reinterpretation by carbon mirror shells.

With its 540 hp, the Kicherer CLK racer gained about 33 hp. Even the torque has been improved by another 20 Nm. Thus equipped, the Kicherer CLK only needs 4.1 seconds from 0 to 100 km/h and runs fasterthan 300 km/h – thanks to a derestricted V/max.

In order to delight any fellow passenger’s vision, Kicherer has equipped the car with additional carbon intarsia. These do not only include – as is usually the case – parts of the centre console and of the door linings, but also ultra-light front seat buckets made of genuine carbon. Therefore, even at a red light, the “normal” Black Edition becomes a Kicherer Racer.

A new top V8 model is making its debut in Geneva in the form of the CLK 63 AMG. The 100% AMG-developed 6.3-litre V8 engine under the bonnet promises a truly memorable driving experience. Available in both Coupé and Cabriolet guise, the CLK 63 AMG eclipses the power and torque figures for any other model in this segment with a maximum output of 354 kW/481 hp and 630 newton metres of peak torque.

Compared to its predecessor, the CLK 55 AMG, power has been upped by 84 kW/114 hp (+31 percent) and torque by 120 newton metres (+23 percent) in the CLK 63 AMG. With new AMG high- performance composite brakes, a new AMG sports suspension, new AMG 18- inch light-alloy wheels plus exclusive and dynamic standard appointments, the new CLK 63 AMG is the sportiest and most elite CLK to date.

The new AMG 6.3-litre V8 engine delivers truly explosive performance: the CLK 63 AMG Coupé sprints from standstill to 100 km/h in 4.6 seconds (predecessor: 5.2 s), with the Cabriolet taking 4.7 seconds (predecessor: 5.4 s). The electronically limited maximum speed is 250 km/h. The majestic power delivery of the Mercedes-AMG V8 engine permits either electrifying acceleration or relaxed cruising in a high gear with ample power reserves. The new 6.3-litre V8 engine from AMG is the first in the world to combine the high-revving concept with a large displacement. Developed exclusively by AMG, this high-performance engine delivers 20 percent more torque than comparable naturally aspirated engines with a similar power rating.

AMG V8 naturally aspirated engine with an array of high-tech features Made entirely from high-strength aluminium, the V8 naturally aspirated engine is packed with a wealth of fascinating racetrack technology that reflects AMG’s rich motorsport heritage. The vertical arrangement of the intake and exhaust ports together with the sophisticated new variable intake manifold featuring two integral throttle flaps results in superlative cylinder charging.

The use of bucket tappets in the cylinder heads paves the way for a stiff valve train and therefore high engine speeds. Variable camshaft adjustment, an extra-rigid closed-deck crankcase and cylinder walls with a revolutionary new LDS coating are further attributes of this ultra-sophisticated V8 engine made by Mercedes-AMG.

This unique combination of a fast-running design and a large displacement achieves the best of both worlds: exhilarating high-revving flexibility accompanied by high pulling power at low engine speeds. The decidedly sporty character of the CLK 63 AMG manifests itself in the form of tremendous agility and dynamic responsiveness across all engine speed ranges. The new AMG V8 delivers 500 newton metres of torque to the crankshaft as low down as 2000 rpm, while the maximum of 630 newton metres is on tap at 5000 rpm.

The new AMG V8 unit promises dynamic acceleration, instantaneous pickup and sheer driving pleasure at the highest level. With its new, sporty AMG soundtrack which was fine-tuned during an extensive series of tests, the eight-cylinder powerpack from Affalterbach offers all the spine-tingling excitement of a high- revving V8 naturally aspirated engine that makes its presence both heard and felt at any engine speed.

New AMG SPEEDSHIFT 7G-TRONIC promises extra dynamism

The new AMG SPEEDSHIFT 7G-TRONIC transmission is the perfect complement to the dynamic power delivery and can be operated using the AMG shift paddles on the steering wheel. The seven-speed automatic transmission caters effortlessly for both a dynamic driving style and a more comfort-orientated approach. Three shift modes specially configured for the performance characteristics of the AMG V8 engine enable its tremendous power to be harnessed to best effect. Selectable using a switch in the centre console, the shift modes in the CLK 63 AMG – “S” (Sport), “C” (Comfort) and “M” (Manual) – differ in terms of their shift characteristics and shift speeds.

In the manual “M” mode, the driver can truly harness the immense pulling power generated by the V8 engine, as there is no automatic downshift under full throttle or during kickdown; the transmission remains in the selected gear. Plus, AMG SPEEDSHIFT does not automatically execute an upshift when it reaches the engine speed limit in manual mode either, which allows drivers with a particularly sporty streak to make even better use of the power at their disposal. As the rev speed approaches the lower limit, the transmission automatically changes down a gear.

AMG 18-inch light-alloy wheels and new AMG composite brakes Equipped with a retuned AMG sports suspension, high-sheen AMG 18-inch light- alloy wheels featuring a titanium grey painted finish and new five-spoke styling, as well as wide-base tyres (size 225/40 at the front and 255/35 at the rear), the CLK 63 AMG has precisely what it takes to deliver sporty handling and high-speed cornering. New AMG high-performance composite brakes can be found at the front wheels, with internally ventilated brake discs providing sure stopping power at the rear.

Powerful, harmonious AMG bodystyling

The CLK 63 AMG makes no secret of the fact that it is a range-topping sports model: the powerful AMG bodystyling injects even more dynamism into the already exciting design. The new front apron with its bolder lines, air outlets at the sides and integral fog lamps, the side skirts and the rear apron together produce an overall look that is bristling with character. The “6.3 AMG” lettering adorning the front wings adds further lustre. The spoiler lip on the boot lid reduces the lift acting at the rear axle by over 50 percent. At the rear of the CLK 63 AMG Coupé, the AMG sports exhaust system with two sets of chromed twin oval tailpipes provides both a visual highlight and an acoustic highlight with its sonorous V8 sound.

The CLK 63 AMG Cabriolet is fitted with an AMG sports exhaust system ending in a single chromed twin oval tailpipe.

Exclusive leather interior and high-class appointments

Sportiness and exclusivity are the predominant themes inside both V8 models too. AMG door sill panels, special AMG aluminium trim elements with decorative chrome strips and the new AMG instrument cluster with a 320-km/h speedometer dial create a unique ambience without compromising at all on practicality. Also new is the AMG main menu in the instrument cluster, which displays the currently engaged gear and recommended upshifts in Manual mode, plus either the engine oil temperature or the battery voltage as well as the RACETIMER. The new RACETIMER function allows the driver to record lap times on private racing circuits, storing not only the time for the fastest lap but also the average and top speeds as well as the lap length.

The new silver-coloured aluminium AMG shift paddles on the AMG ergonomic sports steering wheel are particularly eye- catching. The electrically adjustable AMG multicontour sports seats are heated and come upholstered in exclusive nappa leather with an attractive cross-piping design. The market launch of the new CLK 63 AMG is due to commence in the second quarter of 2006.
